Hi I have made the mistake of buying thicker skirting then the arcatrive. It's only 3-4 mm and don't fancy the pedestal option, thinking of shamfering the end but witch do I plane back the face or the back of the skirting?

Thanks nath

Thanks, when I fix the arcatrive could I put a bit more glue to bring it out that bit more and caulk around the back if you know what I mean?

Regards nath

you could lean the architraves forward a bit as in cut 1 degree less[44degrees]
pin to the frame and pin through the top bit into the side bits off architrave
then back edge will sit proud
no nails or filler behind the architrave for support
if the architrave is narrow you need a bit less angle

a bit off trial and error will tell you the exact amount

other options are to remove the skim coat for the last foot and bend the the skirting in

i have removed from the back off the skirting on occasions but its usually easier to remove plaster and fill

Thanks for the heads up al see how I get on, sure I can get 3mm out of it some how.

Thanks nath
