    Insulating Soil Pipe

Hi all, Our soil pipe runs across my garage just below the ceiling, it requires boxing in for building regs, would you stuff the 'box' with loft insulation or not bother? The only benefit I can think of is some sound deadening which isn't really an issue in the garage, the downside is any...

Cutting 15mm Off Each Side Of A Door

It's in a 4x2 stud wall. Spoke to plasterer this morning, he's going to leave that bit till tomorrow so I'll remove the lining shortly and route it down by 7mm each side. That'll leave 25mm on the lining and give me an opening of 754mm, leaving 7mm each side to come off the door to give a 3mm...

Cutting 15mm Off Each Side Of A Door

Walls are being plastered tomorrow so taking the lining out isn't an option, I could possibly add to the lining and go to a narrower door.

Cutting 15mm Off Each Side Of A Door

Hi all, But of a cockup with a door lining, the opening has come out at 740mm for a 762mm door. The door specs say the lipping is 10mm so I'm going to have to remove them on both sides and refit. Is it as simple as cutting the door with a circular saw, retrieve the lippings from the offcut...

    Isolating Ideal Logic+ 30 Combi

You were right, following your post I thought I'd remove the filling loop and sure enough with the valve 'closed' it's still passing water. I removed the tap and closed the valve with a spanner and it's still the same so I guess I'll need to source a new valve for it to conduct the experiment...

    Removing Bath Overflow Trim

Stuck on with silicone, popped right off. I used the pallete knife I use for window beads as it has a really thin edge.

    Removing Bath Overflow Trim

Hi Rob, To be honest I'd thought about just wrapping it in situ as it should ever really get wet, it just happened that the plug I bought came with the trim so it was a case of why not fit it if it's not too risky

    Isolating Ideal Logic+ 30 Combi

Hi all, I have an ideal logic+ combi 30 that slowly loses pressure over a week. A while ago I tied off the prv outlet with a bag to prove it wasn't passing and it doesn't appear to be. Next I want to isolate the boiler as I've a couple of days where it won't be used. Am I correct in...

    Removing Bath Overflow Trim

Hi all, The wife has decided we have to have a black overflow trim and plug in the bath Ive sourced the correct parts, I just wondered if any of the experienced plumbers had any advice on removing the exisiting trim. Is it likely to just be glued on and should pop off with a slim scraper...

Pet safe cat flap battery life?

We have one cat and I'd guess I change the batteries once a year with decent quality batteries. Ours is open all the time so he can come and go as he wishes

    Sistering/Moving roof truss

Hi all, I need to move the roof truss shown in the above picture to be where the orange line is, I'm thinking could I sister a new truss where the orange line is then cut the original truss at the pink line, this would leave approx. 3ft of old truss sistered to the new, with the new also fixed...

Mounting a TV on a paramount wall

Thought I'd update with what I went with in the end. Cut a section of the paramount wall out leaving the inner most core in place. Made a stud frame, that's screwed into 4 floor joists at the top and also glued to the inner core. 12mm osb board over the top meant it was pretty much flush with...
