    Quality not so great.

An LG TV connected (via optical cable) to a Yamaha AS-501 amp, connected to some ancient TDL RTL3's. It's a beast! Mrs Mercury regrets ever saying I could get them out the box again in this new house but they are here to stay! :ROFLMAO:

I would try it, that's how I connect my Amp to my TV, sounds great.

Tips for best BBQ grill for a beginner?

I certainly wouldn't buy from B&Q, they're considerably cheaper online.

Tips for best BBQ grill for a beginner?

My experience of portable barbecues is that they're only really useful if you must have a portable one, they tend to be super flimsy and awkward to use and fiddly to clean, they're a compromise to use at home. Lidl do a cheap kettle one for about £35, I imagine Aldi do an equivalent. But as...

Tips for best BBQ grill for a beginner?

You don't get any flames with decent charcoal and using a chimney starter.

Tips for best BBQ grill for a beginner?

Kinda depends what you want really but as a starter for say a family of four you can't really go wrong with something like a Weber Compact Kettle 47cm, get a chimney starter from Lidl (the Weber one is v expensive compared to the Lidl one) which makes lighting it a doddle and a rain cover for...

Have I a Ridge Board or a Ridge Beam?

Useless photo, though the splice suggest something pre-manufactured.

Regs for Spiral Stairs vs Kite Winders

In layman's terms, as far as I understand it, spiral stairs are only likely to be fitted when space restricts a traditional stair, so the regs are more lenient, just as they are for space-saver stairs. And by their very nature in theory the pitch when measured near the centre is near vertical...

Drilling into statchion holding up lintel

No problem with that assuming the masonry is sound. If the weight of a cupboard door will impact on the stability of the supporting masonry you've got some serious problems! There's no blahdy blah online because it's a non issue.

What should I understand by 'making good'?

Making good is bringing the works up to a standard to match the standard of finish before the job was started, pretty much as above. Though for example if there wasn't a skirting there before the brief would need to say making good + fit new skirting. It's an industry wide standard, though not...

Detached garage conversion (can I use stud walls) (Ed.)

Have a search through the forum for similar threads on garage conversions, (there are hundreds) then if you have specific questions ask them. Also re-post in the Building section.

    Surface drain blocked

That still won't confirm it, water bills can be wrong with respect to this. The only way is physically looking/tracing/digging.

Balcony advice: bitumin or fiberglass and tiles

You would typically use promenade tiles on asphalt too. They sit on the asphalt (or felt), allow drainage to continue unhindered beneath and protect the surface from chair legs etc etc.
