Cracking Match

Probably be a lot of German players over here soon I think. :D

Which is the biggest problem with our national leagues and consequently our national team! We need to start from the ground up nurturing young English talent if we want to emulate Germany's success in this world cup.

The German leagues have rules in place to stop teams from having too many foreign players. We should adopt a similar approach in my opinion. Yes it'll be frustrating not being able to buy as many talented players as you like from where you like but if we want a strong national team and REALLY want to learn anything from this World Cup then we have got to look at what we're doing at home.

Many managers/owners won't like it one bit. I'm no fan of Ferguson but his record as a Manager is outstanding. I don't want to start a Scottish/English argument, I'm simply using him as an example of a highly successful manager in this country. As a Scot I would imagine he has no interest what so ever in how England perform at international level.

The same could be said of Arsene Wenger, Carlo Ancelotti etc and the owners too. Forcing English national teams to develop young talent within this country will require a great deal of patience from owners and probably fans too.

The job of a Football manager in this country can be a very short lived one. Some clubs (especially my own: Newcastle United), boot managers out far too quickly.

I'd like to think the FA will take a long hard look at what went wrong and what needs to happen but I'd be kidding myself if I thought they would actually make any great changes.

It's all about MONEY unfortunately!

After securing a new contract right on the eve of the world cup Capelo demonstrated this only too well, and then the sweet FA keep him on because I suspect they cannot afford to sack him and then employ someone else on a £6 million a year contract.

I think Alex Ferguson would make an ideal manager of England, if Capelo is worth £6 mil then I would have thought Sir Alex with his managerial record would be way off the FA's pay scale.

What happened to the rule that you could only have 4 international players in each team? It needs to be reinstated if it has been abolished. :(

As for Capello............. the press will put paid to him and he will resign in the next few months.

I think the four foreign player rule went when the premier league kicked in, they can now have on the books any EU players and apply for visas for any non EU players and as many as they want of them.

But alas England National side were not any good when the rule was in place or before the infux of foreign players started.

The young lads these days don't stand a chance, they get loaned out to lower league clubs or at best a little run out in the league cup.

I reckon that they played better as a team than the others and were all able to play their part better. So, I can't see binging a few over here would do us and them any favors.

I think you are spot on BUT money will always be the deciding factor I'm afraid. ;)

They are the best team in the World Cup this year and might as well have the Cup now. :D

Yeah - for a team that was supposed to be inexperienced and have no chance against the mighty England.

Just remember - "You win nothing with kids". :D

looking at how they destroyed argentina perhaps we didnt do quite as bad as the media suggests, at least we came back at them and if that second goal had been given.......then again!

There was an earlier team, where a player died under mysterious circumstances wasn't there??

Has anyone heard word from the North Korea team recently?

NKTV reports they won the world cup, and are masters of the universe, or maybe I made that bit up?

I'm not sure, Escobar got shot daed after scoring an OG on his return to Colombia.
Joe Gaetjens, the guy that scored against England for the USA in the 1950 world cup, went mysteriously missing in the 1960s, never to be seen again.

Just googled him, he was a Haitian. Got done in by the tonton macoute.
Maybe Papa doc duvalier was an England fan.

I met a fairy today who granted me one wish.
"I want to live forever" I said.
"Sorry" said the fairy "I cant grant wishes like that"
"Fine" I said "I want to die when England win the world cup"
"You crafty ****" said the fairy.

Off to the bunker or Preston :)
