pump runs during the night every so often, blr doesn't fire tho.

not worked on these boilers an awful lot, nor have i been to see it the customer rang me 5 mins ago!

these boilers have a pump overrun? if so is it a faulty pcb as always on this!

Hi wink.

You will probably find that the system has two motorized valves, the pump gets it`s power from a permanent live feed through the orange and grey wires connected to either of these valves when they are open. If they are both closed then the pump should not continue to run.
It appears that the the MVs is not closing correctly, the only way to test these valves are to check them each for continuity across the orange and grey wires, there should be no continuity when the valve is closed but continuity when it is open.

sorry spraggo but the pump is connected directly to the boiler, or you wouldent have pump overrun,

ofib your probably right with the pcb, how old is the boiler your working on?

if it was a m/valve issue the boiler would fire up as well.

so where is the power coming from for pump overrun ??????

Yes, forgive me if I am wrong, the pump overrun keeps the pump running after the calls for heat from the boiler is satisfied, to allow the boiler to cool down by dissipating this useful heat. But it seems that what you are saying is that you cannot fit a fully pumped system to a boiler that has got an overrun device?.

The system has not been inspected yet, so what makes you think that it is not a fully pumped system, I submitted my theory as an alternative to the over heat pump device failing.

I love a friendly punchup so please reply.

yo yo yo spraggo well if you dont have 240v on the switch live an you do have 240v on the pump live that must mean a faulty pcb

remenber the boiler doesn't fire only the pump runs! pump is wired direct back to the boiler and is not wired to the external controls!

Lets have more, I clearly stated that the pump gets its power from a permanent live through the MVs, (not the switched live), therefore, if the pump over run stat was OK then the pump would receive power through it until the boiler cools down.

That was older boilers which incorporated thermostats. i.e phials and bellows

The suprima uses a thermistor and the PCB controlls the pump
 
yo i dont think you understand how pump overrun works or how its wired because what you are saying does not make sense\! :LOL:
 
If the boiler and pump are connected to the switched live through the mv, the switched live is getting its power from the permanent live ;)

if its wired like this then you cannot have pump overrun as the mv will close opening the micro switch breaking the connection between permanent live and switched live.
