Right , i have been given an old 9448+ to try and get it going , I powerd it up and was greeted by the onboard siren wailing , no lights just power led , no response from key presses, so i decided to default again it did the same as before , any ideas to make it work, im guessing its dead?

What does it say about powering up?

Link all tampers out, AUX and BELL for this time link out zones.
Fit battery, close lid add mains, enter code.

All fuses intact?
Metered out not looked at?

both tampers are linked and the same with the zones now, its still wailing, and pressing keys dont work still, just mains light.

fuses are also intact , checked them with my multimeter on the continuity setting

Did you close lid and turn on mains?

Is the battery good?

Did you follow the reset procedure to the letter?

Closed lid, havent got a battery to hand so no battery on it, shut lid powered up and its unresponsive to key press

Well what do you think happens when you dont follow instructions?

FFS you of all should understand that.

all the 9448's i have done start without battery , dont know why this one dont want to, i know you should have a battery, just dont see why this one is different to the rest

You said its the old one.

If its playing up it needs the battery to act as a......................back to basics for you laddie!

Will pick up some batteries tomorrow and try thanks, how can you tell the age of a yuassa battery from the stamped number on top ?

from picture... screws missing behind keypad, try taking keypad mat out and clean it, better still fit an old 9448 grey rubber keymat (more carbon on the back)

Looking at all the scorch/heat marks around the heat sink & voltage regulator area I think the dead idea wins.
