New unit - 9.5kw @ 240v Electric shower. Existing shower was 7.5kw wired on 6mm2 to dedicated 40a MCB on CU via cord isolation.
The bathroom is literally at the top of the stairs with consumer unit directly underneath. Total length of cable from CU to isolation would be about 5m and then another 2.5 to the shower. These are absolute maximums though.
Would the 6mm cable be sufficient? Would it make a difference if the wall was insulated etc on such a short distance? Thanks
