CATS

If the owners had kept the moggie on a lead there would be not have been an incident where humans could have been hurt.

Are generalisations your speciality?

My cat doesn’t go on kitchen surfaces and if she did I would discourage her from doing so, just like I discourage unwanted cats in my garden without the use of a blunderbuss. (Do people on here always use a sledgehammer to crack a nut!)

There was one persistent alpha-male ginger Tom who eventually got the message with the use of a tennis ball. I never got to hit him with it, but if it did it wouldn’t take his head off.

My cat used the litter tray for the first week, while I kept her inside to get used to her new home. She hasn’t used it once since, she goes outside every time in the composy bit of my garden under the hedges, as I said earlier. The only smell in my house is from the food itself which I leave in the lean-to.

The most “manky” things in most buildings are men who don’t wash their hands after going to the toilet or spreading a varied range of airborne and tactile viruses. Do your research!

Women are not nearly as bad with their hygene as men and they’re nice to kiss. :D

So you have eyes on your cat 24 hours a day .
it doesnt walk /sit on your furniture after its pished and sh#te in that same composity bit it always does it in your garden then, prob worse than it standing in a litter tray as its accumlative ?

My home doesn’t stink. I’d welcome you back for a cuppa but since your mind is made up you’d probably make something up. I’ve never caught anything from a cat, ever! However, in my lifetime, I have caught countless colds and one bout of NSU. So why the paranoia over cats infecting you?

And talking of disgusting habits... Dogs lick their own bum and other dogs ring piece and then want to lick your face. My ex mother in law used to breed dogs, Cocker Spaniels. You know how they liked to scratch their bum? I’ll let you guess. It may look funny but it’s cringe-worthy. So if you’re precious about the hygiene of your carpet and think dogs are so much better than cats; think again!

Anyway, I’m not on a downer about dogs, I love all animals. To have any pet in your life means some sacrifice.

Gotta dash’ bloomin’ meetings at work...

He's bonkers. Doesn't understand cats. Irresponsible owner.

My main issue with cats is how much stuff they kill.

Most cat lovers claim to love wildlife. But they own a killing machine. The cats have no natural predators in todays society, so they can spend all day waiting by verges for something to kill, stalking birds, etc etc. I would guess they might make 5 kills per day. Thats around 1800 kills per year.

So when they say how they love animals, I realise they can't think straight, and have no real sense of social or environmental responsibility.

I try to balance the ecosystem by acting as a potential cat predator, but unless more people do, the cats will eventually wipe out our wildlife.

Anyone here heard of Toxoplasmosis?

Only 3 dollops of cat poo in front garden today 2 brown and 1 beige.
Usually more than that. My guess is- someone on here has tipped them off .

Yes, a long time ago. But see also..

“Toxocariasis (TOX-o-kah-RYE-us-sis) is a zoonotic (zoonotic means "animal to human") infection caused by the parasitic roundworms commonly found in the intestine of dogs and cats. Puppies usually contract from the mother before birth or from her milk”.

“A toddler who fell in dog poo in a playground could lose the sight in one of her eyes, it was reported on Thursday.

Amiee Langdon, who will be two next week, put her hand down as she tumbled over, then wiped her left eye. She was taken to hospital by her mother Suzanne, 29, from Fallowfield, Manchester, where tests confirmed she had picked up the infection toxocariasis, which is spread by dog poo. It resulted in optical lobe cellulosis, which can lead to blindness and even death if not treated within 72 hours.”

http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-new...l-in-dog-poo-may-go-blind-20100819-12rr3.html

“Lyme disease is a bacterial disease caused by Borrelia burgdorferi. This bacteria is spread via ticks. When an infected tick hitches a ride on a dog or horse, then jumps to a human and bites them, the human can become infected with Lyme Disease”.

Look – just take your dog or cat to the vet for checks. It’s what I do as a responsible cat owner and what I would do if, or when, I ever have a dog. I say again, if you want to lower your risk of infection from ‘animals’ coming into your house, don’t let humans in.

Someone with an unbiased post at last. Good point and I agree with you Reg, although I think you greatly overestimate “5 kills per day” every day. Unfortunately it is us humans who are to blame, not the cats which are simply following their instinct. I too hate the thought of what cats do - although don’t we love it, and didn’t we love them, when we were overrun by rodents in big cities and on ships?

We can’t cherry pick what they do and I find it a far bigger hypocrisy that people who say they love animals aren’t also vegetarians. It’s very much a case of people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. How many omnivores would stop eating chicken or beef if they had to kill it themselves I wonder? I know people who would kill animals for food and I know people who bring them up like a pet on their farm for food later, but I think they are the exception.

It’s all part of the pecking order of nature and mans interference with it for his own selfish greed, needs, comfort or power. The bird picks on the worm, (poor worm), the cat picks on the bird, (poor bird), the dog picks on the cat, (poor cat), the powerful or belligerent countries, race or gender pick on the less powerful ones, (poor Jews/blacks/Serbians/women...) You may feel you are addressing an imbalance, but you are treating the fault not the cause. TBH I’d prefer if you shot the irresponsible owner.

I nearly got into ‘there was an old lady’ for a minute there.. :D

What about people who take a dump in the supermarket toilet, then walk out without washing their hands only to handle food?

What about people who gob in the streets?

What about people who never wash and exude their stench in public places?

What about people who waz up the wall or in a lift after a skinful?

What about horses that cr*p in the road?

What about men that scratch their b*****ks then shake your hand?

What about people who never clean their kitchen or toilet?

What about pavement pizzas?

Cat's don't know any better but humans should.

I don't blame them, your garden is full of sh*t

It's very true that you cannot blame a cat for behaving like a cat. Like you cannot blame a dog for behaving like a dog.

So responsible dog owners keep their dogs under control when off their property and carry plastic bags with them when the dog takes a dump.

Suggest the same to cat owners and they show just how bonkers they really are.
