Yet more islamic peadophillia . . .

88.2% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Yes you can't make anyone buy a particular product, where it be beef, fish or a sofa.

However most people aren't too fussed on where a product comes from. If it meets their needs and the price is right they will but it irrespective of its origin.

which neatly sums up why your argument of staying in the EU does not stand up...

The EU is a currupt over funded French German benefit club no more no less.

we'd miss EU imports more they would miss UK ones

There is nothing to back that claim up.

And in any case one country won't stop exports just because some dingbat in brussells thinks he can start a trade war.

Goes back to what I was saying before - we'd miss EU imports more they would miss UK ones as we don't make anything good here or have much specialist knowledge anymore

Thats silly just because you aren't in the EU doesn't mean EU countries wont sell to you. They will sell anywhere anyone will buy and they can make a profit. The world economy went Global or did you miss that insignificant event? Of course having a global rather than local market has had the effect that when one coutry catches a cold everybody sneezes.

The sub prime mortgage market collapse in America was the trigger for the global downturn...why? Why if something goes wrong in America does the rest of the world suffer.

Because of stocks and shares.

British companies owned by Chines shareholders or American companies owned by german shareholders etc etc. Effects domino around the markets and cause global meltdown not just pockets of localised depression.

If the uk were not in the eu European countries could impose duties on uk imports to make them more expensive.

That means consumers in those markets would not buy uk products because the were more expensive than the same product made domestically or imported from elsewhere in the eu which was not subject to those duties.

Again - if the trade between two countries is not free, either country can impose actions to restrict imports from the other or make them more costly.

Britain will never leave the EU because Germany won't allow it. Not that they could stop us if we really, really wanted to but we don't really, really want to and they will, in the end, simply make sure it is overwhelmingly in our interests to stay. They know the alternative is that they get left on their own with the basket cases of Europe headed up by the chief basket case - France!

The EU will collapse anyway. Just a matter of time and then we will go back to being what the whole of the people of Europe want - a simple trading bloc with own currency and laws.

There is loads of evidence to back it up Norcon.

What does the uk do economically that makes it stand out above the crowd? Please tell me? Our manufacturing base is long gone.

If you want a quality car you get a German one.
If you want fine wine it'll likely be from France.
Cheap labour - anywhere in Eastern Europe
High end clothes, Italy.
Holiday in the sun, Spain.
Low corporation taxes, Ireland.

What do we have here in the uk that other countries really couldn't do without or source from elsewhere? Not much....not enough to sustain our economy anyway.

If our politicians had any ba@@s they would pull us out now.
So no referendum needed.

But why are they so scared of a referendum?
Why don't they trust the people?

Exactly. We will still buy their products. Europes products. Its never been any different for thousands of years.

So why the need for a corrupt cartel off unelected dictators to tell us what to do?

I agree the world economy is highly intertwined.

But you miss my point. I don't dispute that people will continue to export to the uk - that is because we need to import. My point is that it would be very easy for the eu to inhibit our exports because we don't export anything exclusive or in demand

Probably because many people make emotional decisions rather than rational ones, and thus the decisions are not always made with their long term interests in mind

It's like in the US where the majority of the public are against universal health care despite it actually being of benefit to them.

So no Isolationism after all then?

(Probably because it doesn't work... ;) )

Funny how you wouldn't answer that direct question, but then I guess being a leprous d*ck is a bit of a handicap...

Switzerland seems to be doing alright. A European country that isn't in the EU.
Are you telling me that the EU would seriously impose such duties on UK goods if we were to leave? The UK could retaliate by only buying Chinese tat and Taiwanese stuff. The truth is the EU deal with almost every country in the world (even though the vast majority of these countries are not in the EU)
