I suppose it's a bit of a coincidence that Whiteflight appeared just when Dropclanger seemed to have stopped posting.

One and the same I would say, except whitefeather seems to be taking a slightly opposing view. Your never alone with schizophrenia.

Give it time. I'm sure we'll find these 'two people' agreeing with each other before long. I've seen it before. ;)

Doh!!!!!

Only just looked in this morning - my guess that DropClanger has arisen in a different form was a bit behind the times.

We await the carp...........

successive gov's over the past 55 years have failed to deal with the import/export deficit.

Why is it the governments job, or what can they do, to fix an issue that is basically caused by the population wanting to buy cheap goods.

The people who moan the loudest about this issue, are also the ones that love buying £4 jeans from primark.

The rest of your post is an incorherant mash of misunderstood trading mechanics.

You're presuming that DropClanger really was / is a screaming leftie, and that WNF is a fabricated persona.
What if DC really was a Nick Griffin type, and WNF is the real DC's character?

I need a lie down...........

Figs for trade deficit are readily available on the net. Nothing that my post contains has had any kind of refute or agreement. This is in line with my thinking that those who say they want change in reality, don't. Actual change, did anyone see or recall the mayor of Florence doing what he did. Now that is change. with the web at our disposal anything is possible,if you want it. My remedy comes in 2 stages ,both will be instigated by referendum. Firstly, [asap] whether we want to be part of Euroland AND Euro. Regarding losing the pound, If the Germans gave up the mark ,what's the problem ? Further, does it matter what you have got in your hand if you can buy more with it ?.Also ,my previous about exchange rate. This referendum must come with a prior agreement from all member states that the UK is suspended on a temp basis from any participation or mandate, 'if' the voters decide on full EEC integration, [thanks to Ted Heath's half done entry to Euroland] the necessary preparation is going to take some time to administer. Second stage, [only possible if first stage is for euro]. Whilst we sort out the integration a referendum will be had regarding the repatriation of all the illegal immigrants and their offspring, it would also deal with travellers not with Uk passports having to give details of what they are doing here, where they are staying and provide evidence to prove so, at the airport. Those who can't go to a holding unit and are given 24hrs to prove they are genuine This is not going to be popular with anyone. However, what do you want ? Freeloaders that breed and bleed the system or,a few hours nuisance for the genuine. All others are on the next return flight.Rightly or wrongly on our exit from The Indian sub continent , passports and papers were given to those who we considered acceptable. [I do not believe that those giving out the papers would have done so if they thought England was going turn Islamic].This did not mean all. The referendum would include ways to track down all illegals and their offspring. It doesn't matter how long they've lived here or what they have or havn't done they have no right to be here. They have put a strain on english values and resources. They must sell up and leave, by their own means or be assisted. On completion of the remedy the EEC takes us back with full participation with a clean bill of health

I mark your trolling as a B-

Marks deducted for saying travellers instead of gippos, and failing to rant about eastern european immigrants.

Must try hader if you want an A grade.

They certainly both go in for quantity over quality.

Back on topic, what is it that The UK makes any more? Our unsuccessful manufacturers don't get bailed out by the taxpayer any more, so have gone. Many successful ones have been sold to foreign owners.

What is it that we make in large enough quantities to be able to get ourselves out of the mire?

Do you believe apple is a poor company, and that it makes the US no money, because its physical goods are made in china?

Problem is Aron, foreign owned companies, producing and/or trading in the UK, seemingly pay little or no tax on profits made in the UK. Reports in the press recently have shown this to be a fact. Something needs doing (but don't expect Camoron and Clegg to do anything) ;) ;)

I'm not sure Whitenoflight is a real person. Automated chatbots are getting awfully good these days.

Thank you sir, I think that was the 2nd time I have been praised

The question was about how we need to make widgets. You have jumped to an argument about producing widgets to companies being foreign owned and not paying tax.

As to companies avoiding tax, that has nothing to do with manufacturing as the same methods are used on services as well.

And there is nothing cameron, wink wink, as you say, can do about this. Companies are taxed upon profits, they put costs against offices in other countries to shift profits to that office, its the price of an international economy.

Want to do something about it, sorry, its part of EU law, the only way to stop it is pulling out of the EU.

Labour and the lib dems cant do anything about this tax dodging because neither wants out of the EU , the conservatives may want out of the EU, but they don't want to change it because they see it as the unfortunate practice cost of international business.

  • Thanks
Reactions: JBR
Surely any company making profits in this country, should pay tax on those profits in this country? Tax rules shouldn't allow them to put costs against offices in another country? By christ if it's that easy, I'll register my business in bloody Outer Mongolia. ;) ;) ;)
