We are supposed to be sourcing the supplies for our builder. Our plans call for padstones in non-standard sizes. It reads....
R1: 225 x 225 x 100h mm padstone
(minimum padstone height if unreinforced: 86 mm)
Factored reaction = 53.52 x 1.50 = 80.28 kN
Masonry: 50N/mm2 brick, class (iv) mortar, normal const/special mfr, Class 1 bearing
Local design strength (factored) = 7.1 x 1.25/3.1 = 2.86N/mm2 (BS5628-1:2005 Table 2a) Factored stress under padstone = 1.50 x 53.52 x 1000/225 x 225 = 1.59 N/mm2
Newpier to built in minimum 50N/mm2 engineering bricks off new 850mm square concrete pad foundation.
R2: 400 x 225 x 200h mm padstone
(minimum padstone height if unreinforced: 173 mm)
Factored reaction = 47.85 x 1.50 = 71.78 kN
Masonry: 7N/mm2 brick, class (iv) mortar, normal const/normal mfr, Class 1 bearing
Local design strength (factored) = 2.44 x 1.25/3.5 = 0.87N/mm2 (BS5628-1:2005 Table 2a) Factored stress under padstone = 1.50 x 47.85 x 1000/400 x 225 = 0.80 N/mm2
R1: 300 x 100 x 150h mm padstone
(minimum padstone height if unreinforced: 134 mm)
Factored reaction = 16.62 x 1.50 = 24.94 kN
Masonry: 7N/mm2 brick, class (iv) mortar, normal const/normal mfr, Class 1 bearing
Local design strength (factored) = 2.44 x 1.25/3.5 = 0.87N/mm2 (BS5628-1:2005 Table 2a) Factored stress under padstone = 1.50 x 16.62 x 1000/300 x 100 = 0.83 N/mm2
I am having strouble finding someone who can supply non-standard sizes. Can we simply use bigger padstones perhaps?
Thanks!
