We're currently looking at some bedside table lamps, so the base needs to be low profile, rather than something quite bulky.

Looking around, every lamp we find that is fairly low profile seems to be E14. Is it possible to just unscrew the E14 lamp, and screw on a B22 fitting?

I want to put my Hue Lux bulbs in it.

Yes, if there is a threaded stem that connects to the lampholder. Threads usually 1/4 inch, or less often 3/8 or 10mm.

Some cheapo types might be glued or moulded in one piece in which case changing it will not be possible.

Excellent thanks. If it is glued, I can just cut it off and reattach one, so that shouldn't be an issue.
