No it wouldn't.Considering the size of the Universe, it would be unusual if our planet was the only one supporting life.
Pedant!

As we're in a pedantic mood, the universe cannot possibly be unusual as, by definition, the universe is everything. No, but you cannot talk of our universe being unusual because it is as it is - whatever that may be.You sure about it being the only universe ELF ?

What I (and I think everyone) can't get my head around is trying to imagine travelling at the speed of light in any direction in space and never getting to the end of the universe. I'm told that it is because we have all lived our lives with borders and barriers of one description, so it is impossible to imagine anything without end.
Mind you, Dropclanger's blatherings go on without end, and I can imagine that easily enough.
wan ks with turkeys
..This,Here is one to get your head round imagine standing on a beach cupping your hands together and grabbing biggest handfull of sand you can and let it slip through your fingers.
How many grains of sand is there ,
uncountable
now for every single grain of sand there is on this planet , not just one beach
There is a sun . not a planet but a sun
So please dont ttell me there is not intelligent life out there
Would this be called the real world? And all the trades on this forum up in arms, when the general public discovers that the aliens do plumbing, electrics etc better, and charge less.
Anyway, they wouldn't be the first aliens to arrive, some of the regulars here live on another planet.
Quite right. Why should we be the only ' civilised ' people in our Universe. Who can say that there isn't another civilisation a few light years away?It would (imo) be pretty naive to assume we are the only intelligent life out there.
Not only that, there could be races who are hundreds if not thousands of years ahead of us in technology, who could have mastered interstellar travel as well.
