"A decision to space out the distinctive triangular chocolate chunks in two Toblerone bars sold in the UK has upset fans who say that they do mind the gap."

"The move has resulted in the weight of the 400g bars being reduced to 360g and the 170g bars to 150g, while the size of the packaging has remained the same."

The Toblerone brand is owned by American company Mondelez (formerly Kraft) which also makes the greasy brown stuff now sold under the Cadbury name. They pay no UK Corporation tax, despite vast profits http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...an-owners-fire-paying-no-corporation-tax.html

"Mondelez said that "like many other companies, we are experiencing higher costs for numerous ingredients"."

"A spokeswoman for Mondelez acknowledged that the foreign exchange rate was currently "not favourable", but added: "This change wasn't done as a result of Brexit."

However, she was unable to clarify whether the change in shape affected only bars sold in the UK and not the rest of Europe."

It is noteworthy that the world price of sugar, cocoa and palm oil is set in dollars. The pound has lost 18% of its value against the dollar in the past year.

Pound Sterling, against US dollar, fall in value over 12 months

Pretty much all products have been doing this over the last few years. It's the new 'thing'. Reduce the contents but keep the price the same. Manufacturers seem to have developed some kind of allergy to just raising prices instead. Bloody annoying.

"Whereas shrinking products used to crop up occasionally, which is when they made the news, what this research shows is that now this appears to be being done on a massive scale."

Trump's leading in the polls John. You're going to need your chocolate and tinnies later to calm the pain

Terry's Chocolate Orange is also down in size this year I believe.

Toblerone have a bit of an issue though as its obvious it's smaller.

Not a problem as it's now made of palm oil and sugar, making a soft, greasy material. People who like chocolate oranges no longer buy them.

It's now made in Poland by Mondelez.

Coming from Hawkup, the man who repeatedly posts anti-Semitic propaganda and racist abuse on here, I am unperturbed by his false accusation.
