Stop digging a hole for yourself. You just clearly do not know. Read the book you have. All sorts of valves and devices are inserted in the weep line, room thermostats amongst them.

I don't recall saying that a relay valve that utilises a weep tube doesn't exist?..maybe you can highlight where exactly I wrote this?..I will admit saying that a room stat utilising weep tubes would be a figment of hard-ons imagination.

"gas weep pipes"??? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:....@ least try to google the correct terminology when referring to gas controls...

You did refer to the whole concept of main vlave control by weeping gas as a load of bo||ocks

Tubes or pipes. Small difference, did gas weep pipes go from the boiler to room thermostat and then continue on to a timer or manual ON-OFF control before delivering the weeping gas to the weep burner next to the pilot light. Apparently they did. A series of controls along the weep pipe. The last weep control before the weep burner would have been kept open only by heat from the pilot flame ( bi-metal strip ) to ensure there was no weep flow if the pilot was not lit and hence no main burner flow..

One reference ( not public domain ) refers to two or more ( weep ) room thermostats being connected in parallel so that either or both being open ( call for heat ) would open the main gas valve.

Here are my second editions..... Great reads.

Did you take a photo of your 2nd edition with a publication date before 1999 ?
Sorry Bernard my mistake , I aquired the book around 2010 as you quite rightly said.
I confused the dates with the following books which I aquired circa 1979 which were on the C&G curriculum.
Although confusing the dates of when I aquired these books was an oversight, unlike yourself trying to be a smart azz by implying that I should purchase these books in order to expand my knowledge.

What else have we here that was on the C&G curriculum?????..oh yea...
Anything else Bernard??

There you go. Look at `J`. ! Full modulation of the burner, injecting the correct level of heat into a house, controlled by variable acting boiler stat & `room thermostat` and no electrics at all. You can tell all the GasShark registered in the Combustion Chamber thread all about it.
