I've been lurking on here for a while and reading up on which boilers the pros seem to favour. Intergas seems very good, and after watching some Youtube videos on them the engineering makes a lot of sense in keeping things simple and hopefully long lasting.

My daughter has just bought a 2 bed flat that's a wreck. It's a blank canvas, new ch system needed. There's one bathroom that will have a bar mixer type shower over a bath, but shower will be much more used than bath. Will be one and occasionally two occupents living there.

So, which model Intergas combi model will be best? I'm thinking around 24Kw? She wants really simple controls, so no Hive/Nest - just programmer and room stat. With this in mind, what's the best way to meet new boiler plus regs without adding complicated controls? Maybe weather comp?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks, that's the boiler sorted. Think she would prefer a simpler stat though. Definitely not 'smart' with apps. Don't think she's even got a smart phone. She's useless with anything technical - just like her mother.

Could we use a simpler stat, and maybe something like weather compensation to meet boiler plus regs? We've got a Drayton Mistat and something like that would be ideal.

Thanks again. That looks like a good combination. So just to confirm - that boiler + T4R will satisfy Boiler Plus? Or is there more to do?

(Obviously there will be TRVs on all but the radiator by stat.)

UPDATE:

The Heating engineer has been to my daughter's flat this week to see what needs doing. He was pushing a certain boiler brand, which we told him in no uncertain terms we didn't want. He's agreed to fit the Intergas instead.

Can you guess which boiler he was pushing, Dan or anyone else? You probably only need one guess.

Thanks again for your help and advice - really appreciated.

Try the cheaper Intergas Rapid combi. No frills so cheaper and less to wrong. They have a 6 year guarantee on one model. The 32kW gives a high DHW flow rate, so if there is a bath in the flat go for that, as the 24kW will struggle to the point of being wickedly slow to fill the bath. The 32kW is not that much more expensive.

Look at the touch screen, like a smart phone, Heatmiser Touch V2 thermostat/programmer, a lot cheaper than Honeywell and a quality product. The Touch V2 can be just a thermostat or a thermostat programmer (time clock). The timing side is highly comprehensive giving greater options than the Intergas boiler. It is good to look at and far cheaper than Honeywell. The Touch V2 does not have Opentherm, but that is no big deal. You can have the Touch V2 as just a thermostat and use the timeclock on the combi, or have the combi on constant and use the timer on the Touch V2. You have the choice. The expensive Honeywell does not give you that choice.

Totally disregard everything in that post and go with @Dan Robinson suggestion of a 24kW ECO RF and Lyric thermostat.

HW doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. Dan's one of the top Intergas guys in this country

Total tripe. I doubt he has heard of Heatmiser, as you haven't. The Rapid is cheaper and simpler than the rest of the range, but most of it is the same. Dannyboy will tell you. The Heatmiser is far better than the Honeywell. It can be simple or as complex as you want. It also looks better than the the poorly designed Honeywell.

That's a big assumption on your part and a flawed one at that

Just accept that you've been told your advice regarding Intergas boiler models was worthless and move on ;)

You know nothing about these things. You are into drains.

Look at the state of the Honeywell. You have to walk around it is that big...

I would rather have G Plan furniture than that!!!
