I need to replace a basin hot water tap (not mixer) on a combo system. How will I stop the water in it to fit it? Is it by draining down the heating system (radiators) that let me do that? Thanks.
No need to drain heating. Turn off cold water inlet to boiler (should be a valve under boiler), drain remaining hot water from pipes via tap to be changed. Remove tap and replace.
If doing both hot and cold taps, turn water off at main stop cock, drain remaining from pipes as above and change.
Note: If you have isolation valve(s) on feed to tap(s), just turn isolation valves to off, no need to do anything else.
