Chances are I’ll vote Tory next general election. But if Labour have the right leader and say the right things I may vote for them.
I would not vote UKIP unless the wind changed again. . So what should I have done.
Unless you live in a marginal constituency, it doesn't matter who you vote for; it will make no difference so you may as well not bother.

This is not apathy or complacency but fact.

Indeed it is a sad fact, given our outdated FPTP electoral system!

Europeans of course predominantly use some form of PR.

Which is why we must leave - in order to avoid becoming more democratic

We shouldn't be complacent about voting, we may hate the system and / or the available choice, but we should be grateful we do live in a democracy. Its not completely democratic, nowhere is, but its a million miles from a dictatorship.

Let me be more fair-minded:
I have no problem with the CC forum. I think it, or something like it, serves a useful purpose as a resource knowledge base.
Why plumbers need access to a resource knowledge base more than other trades, I have no idea.

BUT, the issue that I have is the extraordinary effect it is has on the GD forum. The GD forum appears to be overpopulated by extreme right-wing, bigoted or outright racist plumbers.
That would be OK, except that these plumbers appear to enjoy some extraordinary protection with their comments in GD forum. One can only assume it is because of their membership of the CC forum.

The overall effect is to give an uneven, unfair, and protected status to right-wing, bigoted, or outright racist plumbers, in the GD forum.

Where are the more fair-minded plumbers who do not seem to want to object to their colleagues' right-wing views?
Is it that the more right-wing bigoted or outright racist plumbers who post in GD forum enjoy some special status in CC forum, so no plumbers wants to object to them?

Let them populate the GD forum. Nothing like the light of facts and truth to Shine on myths and beliefs.

I said it wasn't complacency nor apathy and it wasn't

(and JD's cartoon falsely shows the majority NOT voting which would make a difference and therefore is typically and simplistically inaccurate).

If you had shown me how my vote would have resulted in a Labour M.P. in Bournemouth East then I may have voted, but it would have made no difference.

That is the case in most places.

I wasn't disagreeing with your post, I was agreeing with JohnD's cartoon!

And yes I know his cartoon is simplistically inaccurate.

FPTP gives no voice to those living in constituencies with a significant majority.

The real shame I feel is that FPTP prevent any new parties from making any worthwhile inroads in UK politics, which mean we are stuck with Left or Right divisions

Do you mean the Nick Griffin/Question Time effect? :)

Why plumbers need access to a resource knowledge base more than other trades, I have no idea.

In the CC There are a good bunch of educated Gas engineers who find the Forum useful and most do not come onto the GD page
Does anyone really believe we sit on there talking about a few Fanny's??? like old women.
They don't even know who the Fanny's are

Really???? What would the others think of us if we used CC for that. Really ???

Get a grip....

I remember watching that one.
Nick Griffin got attacked from all sides.
He was his own worst enemy, and his policies were laid bare for all to see!

Care to tell us what happened to the BNP vote after that appearance?
