All the fuss that has been made over some idiot (BJ) making a couple of remarks about Burkas

It has caused great offence :LOL:

years ago Ken Clarke likened the burka to a sack . No fuss over that

We worked for some Saudi tenant who moved into a prop , 1st thing he did was sheet up all the windows so no one could see his missis from the road

dunno why he bothered tbh . I got a brief glimpse of her (un-fortunately) & u would not want to :LOL:

may be that's why he sheeted up the windows in order to save his embarrassment for marrying her  Imho her family must have had a few squid hence the reason why :LOL:

tis the only explanation imho

They are more oppressive now than just 40 years ago,

I saw a video of Iran in 1978 and it looked just like Spain. Could have been fake but it was saying back then thevreligeon was much more relaxed before it was interpreted differently by more and more extreme, er, extremists??

PS, Ad hominem, Ad hominem, Ad hominem. Whatever that means.
Yes, it was a much more forgiving place to live back then in a lot of ways. And you'd see women with their hair on display in dresses, make up, high heels believe it or not. The revolution made Iran turn back the clock, not go forwards. Even today, the Shah who was responsible for the better treatment of women is thought of warmly by those who remember those days and I daresay wistfully too.

Yep the m** mullahs took over Iran . The Woman have been oppressed ever since.

Ad hominem attack.

Adds nothing to the discussion

Ad hominem

Getting offended on behalf of somebody else who wasn't offended?

2 of us were having a discussion, nothing was hurled at you.

But you think he was offended, so you object. What does that make you, if not 2 faced and irrational. You can't have it both ways.

What wars have been started over offended feelings?
If you believe that to be the case then wars have been started by stupid morons.
Many wars have been started over the mocking of different imaginary friends...

So yes, you are actually correct in your thought that they have been started by 'stupid morons' (y)

Which is what I was trying to tell you in the first place

Tis a wonder that a fatwa has not been issued on Boris , same as was issued on Salmon Rushdie for the satanic verses

Right, yes, most wars have been started for religious reasons (and greed). Not hurt feelings per se.

Sorry, do I now owe you one of these?

You were making a false premise, then building an argument around that.

I am not offended whatsoever, merely pointing out that you were not furthering the discussion but making insults -which is a common indication of attempting to hide the weakness of an argument. I was making no assumption the other person was offended and neither did I object.

There is no '2 of us were having a discussion' -its an open forum with an unrestricted post stream

It's been rewritten.

Sticks and stones may break my bones
but words -

will make me jump up and down and go red with rage and accuse the speaker of all manner of obnoxious crimes against humanity in whosoever's name I profess to be shouting.

Though shalt not speak lest it offend someone somewhere.

I'm offended by this so a bit of a dilema.

R.I.P.

It offends me when people attribute this to Voltaire.
Blatent mysoginy.
