(unless they get a sub from the Germans, sorry EU....)

Germany might also be looking for money from the EU to maintain the roads and bridges that provide international transit routes across the EU

https://www.politico.eu/article/italy-needs-marshall-plan-after-bridge-disaster-says-minister/

""Germany is also facing problems maintaining its infrastructure. The country counts some 39,500 bridges across its highway network, and, according to the Transport Ministry, roughly 87 percent of those are classified as in good condition.

The rest need work on things like strengthening railings or fixing up potholes with €1.4 billion set aside this year for maintenance.

“The tragic events in Genoa should be a reminder to us in Germany, our transport infrastructure and especially our bridges should be rehabilitated now,” said Peter Hübner, president of the of Federation of the German Construction Industry.

Hübner said some 10,000 bridges need to be replaced by 2030, with the quality of a road on the A1 over the Rhine river near Leverkusen of specific concern.

So your supporting massive government spending and increasing the national debt of Italy as being good economic policy argue against that for the UK. I thought you lot were for limited government.

Stick to your day jobs.

If Britian remained in the Eu how much money from the UK would be spent on re-building bridges, roads and public buildings in Italy and then later Germany ?

Can you tell me the cost of a hard border. Time wasted in getting customs docs in order.

What about effect on services.

A hard border will only cost money if someone installs the expensive infrastructure. Its only the EU seeking a hard border. The Irish don't want one but are under pressure from Brussels to insist on it.

I thought it was 1 of the brexit points.

Control of our borders

By the way, we had control anyway

Its only the EU seeking a hard border.

That's actually not true.

The EU has a single market, which is the worlds finest free trade agreement. It works because everybody inside it follows the same rules.

If a country outside the EU doesn't want to follow those rules, it can't be in that single market.

So it has to trade through the border.

That's all there is to it.

UK (sometimes) says it doesn't want to follow EU rules. So it can't be in the single market. So it has to be on the other side of a border.

Is there anything you don't understand?

Lots of other countries outside the EU don't have any problem getting their goods across EU borders.
