Hi Guys,
We have just had pest control out to remove some floor boards and treat and the area for wood worm. The floorboards are old and they were touching the brick so water was passing through to them.
What we have now seen is that there is standing water after any rainfall in one corner of the living room. The rest of the space looked to be dry.
The house is a detached, was built in the 1920s, is on a sloped road and the soil all around is very hardy clay a foot down.
I think it definitely drains very slowly as there wasn’t much there this morning but by this evening it had appeared. Luckily there is no smell at all so assume its rain water.
The guttering is new and the rain pipe underground we’ve had relined as it was cracked. The only other issue is the pointing around our house needs work.
I’m just wanting advice on the best thing to do.
Is it worth leaving until summer when its hopefully dried out?
Get some new dpc injected whilst we have the floor open and get a french drain around the walls?
Put some form of base down or just make sure our new boards don’t touch the walls and ignore it?
