since I don't do domestic I can't vouch for certain, but if it's a refit, then it goes where the old one was.
If it's a new build, then it goes at low level close to where the meter box outside is i suppose.. to cut down on lenght of mains tails..
unless it's a block of flats situation then it goes next to wherever the mains cables enter the flat ( asuming that the meters would be downstairs under the stairs etc ) or where the DNO cable and meters go..

No earth link to the back box on his socket, and he seemed to infer that smoke alarms can share an RCD with other circuits, as long as it does not supply socket outlets or equipment for use outdoors.
I was under the impression that smokes were supposed to be on a dedicated RCBO, unless wired surface etc.?

I noticed that , but when he goes to screw it back there is (I think)
no theres not, he used seperate terms for each (high integrity)
I was under the same impression rob, however the CU in the final part didn't have anything which wasn't on the 2 main RCDs.
Not sure if the smokes can share the circuit with a regularly used lighting circuit still. Mixed with sockets is a non starter tho.

First he said, "the regs state that FDS should not be fed from an RCD-protected circuit."
Then he says, "they can be RCD supplied, but not from an RCD providing protection to s/o's or equipment outdoors.
The other thing that was, at best, woolley and at worst downright rubbish, was this: [talking about bathrooms]

doesn't say NO supp bonding, says "not as much supp bonding as there used to be.."
