    well nuf said, does it mention if the skimming is mouldy or at all loose what you must door because it doesnt you would leave it on. You have never taken tiles off a wall and found that the skimming comes off as well and leaves the render, does this not tell you that without the skimming on it...

    yes i agree that tanking is the best and the most expensive option if done properly , the cheapest option is to chip off the multi finnish and seal the render with a weak mix of pva and make sure you use a cement based glue and a good waterproof grout and really work the grout into the joints...

    to be honest i wouldnt tile on multifinnish in a shower ,your best bet would be to chip it off and then unibond the render. good luck, Andy
