Well I isolated the boiler from the heating pipes and the system still lost pressure quickly. In fact I was getting a lot of water down the condensate pipe even with the boiler switched off.
Called in the Worcester engineer. He arrived this afternoon and fitted a new heat exchanger. The price...
Thanks for all the advice.
I plan to test the pressure loss tomorrow. While waiting I'll have a look at the pipes that are easy to get to...
Pressure loss is now quick i.e. from 1bar to nothing in a few hours.
A plumber renewed the PRV before Christmas.
Not tested pressure loss from...
I've had my Worcester Greenstar boiler installed and working well for over 10 years now.
Late last year it started to lose pressure slowly.
Water was leaking out of the overflow outside.
A local Worcester recommended plumber came and serviced it and replaced the pressure relief valve...
Thanks for the pointers
I'll offer my services to see if it's just a washer!
If it's a new tap I'll leave it to a plumber as it's not my house.
Steve :)
An elderly relative of mine has a dripping bathroom tap.
It's an old mixer tap.
A dripping tap would normally be easy to sort out, except they are rather old.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how they might come to pieces (I've not yet tried), or if I'm likely to be able to get spares or...
Can any electrician out there help me please.
In last two houses I have lived in I have had the same electrical problem(?):-
On the lighting circuit when I have taken the wire out of the lightswitch connection and with the other end unconnected I still find a small electrical current in...
This is quite expensive and can't be used with a combi boiler.

I'm told that a shower aerator reduces the amount of water used/required.
This seems like a good plan being on a water meter.
I run my shower off my combi boiler, so it can provide large amounts of hot water at mains pressure.

Just thought I'd post the results of my boiler problems.
Firstly, it turned out that my mum had boiler insurance cover, so there was no further expense or need for me to get my tools out. :)
The filter was fine, the problem was the heat exchanger.
Some small black grit had come through...
Thanks for the advice.
I'll try cleaning it myself next time I'm over visiting.
There is a flow restrictor, so will look at that if the filter looks okay.
She's actually in Rotherham, rather than Derbyshire.
Is the filter easily accessible and cleanable, or would I need to get a specialist Ocean plumber in to do the job?
I've just got the number for Ocean (0870 3001964) but all they would do was give me the number of a local plumber. The...
