Hi Johnd, yes when the boiler was installed I don't recall the installer doing a proper flush as such....the particles are definitely from the radiators...I did not know of x900 but will look it up now and consider addition.
Hopefully the sentinel will capture other bits in the system from now...
Thanks to this Forum and the experts who responded with advice, my boiler is alive and kicking out heat like new. Agile, holty, kidsgreen61, danrobinson, johnd and others, you are top people. No one local to me was prepared to clean the hex as this forum suggested. Plumbers would not even...
Kidsgreen61.
Thanks for the offer. Agile was also generous in offering his service and experience and he lives in London...!
My boiler is working albeit at a reduced efficiency and lower temp, so would be happy to take you up if you are ever over this way and work slacks off...
I'd rather...
Well the engineer gas come back with prices. He is prepared to power flush but no guarantee that this will fix the problem. Has quoted £1270 to replace the boiler with another viessmann vitodens or £720 to replace the heat exchanger...
So just one more response awaited from a forum member...
He has just responded to say he uses magna cleanse rapid flush and does not think he could do it, but would be happy to quote for another heat exchanger... You guys must be psychic...
Thanks holty. Mine is an open vented condenser, not a combi, but is the process just the same.
Thanks to the input and views from you guys I have also now contacted the yourplumber website to seek an opinion , hopefully they will come back to me in the next day I so. Had one recommendation...
Interesting responses, re Worcester. Will have to deliberate on whether I bring this up with the engineer....I do know he said he has not had much success with flushing vitodens...but will see if he is confident enough to be successful. If he is not I will seek other quotes from engineers on the...
Ah ok...I don't have the fixed speed pump as you referenced.
Mine is a wilo http://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-central-heating-circulating-pump-230v/45357
With variable load speed, but thanks for the info anyway.
I have a sentinel eliminator fitted but this was after I started getting the...
Thanks johnd
My pump has a plug in connector and therefore I don't fancy messing with trying to run it manually. It's a variable Flomaster, and I know when it's set to max on the linear setting, it sort if runs at high then low speed then high in a pattern, which makes me think there is a...
Thanks holty.
I will mention the option to clean the Hex to the engineer when he calls back. The rubber hose, is this the one for the condensate , or something else?
Btw, what method us used to clean the hex, is it as straight forward as the power flush...as I will then need to establish if he...
Thanks Tony,
yes viessman are here in town and the engineer who is coming back to me is one I have taken from there own list on the website.
It just concerned me he was recommending a Worcester as a replacement...if you know of anyone that would clear out the system, that's all I ask for...
I have a vitodens 100 wb1a that was I installed in 2005. The boiler started short cycling earlier this year , temperature rising in 2-3 degrees and then shutting down early before cycling again. The engineer added 2 bottles of x800 and it seemed to fix the problem for about 2 weeks. Now it's...
Ok...PCB was fine. Had boiler removed and found that the aluminium flue had corroded causing the air flow sensors to shut the system. Any road, it's now been replaced with a Viessmann Vitodens 100...what a change. Bit like swapping an Allegro for a Rover 75...different ball game. Thanks for the...
ICB sent away for diagnosis and / repair. Quoted £1600 for a replacement Vaillant 24Kw Condensing Unit, fully fitted with vertical flue. 10Yr warranty. Does this compare well with others?
