I wired up the lamps in parallel and was told that this was wrong

all i wanted to know was if you had a standard double flu fitting and using the old style control gear eg ballast starter...
if you had two 18 watt flu lamps and an 40 watt ballast and wired the two 18 watt lamps in paralel would the lamps burn out quickly
should you wire the two lamps up in series ??

i found a couple on the net but they dont show were the timer goes in the mains diagram and it also shows the timer contacts on the star and delta lines normaly open is this correct cant see how this would work

i didnt think there was a min height that sockets should be from the floor
just thought they should be at a height so the flex by the plug doesnt keep coming in contact with the floor stressing the cable
thought that there was a min height in the old regs which had been superseeded...

and how many of you non qualified sparks test an installation after it has been completed to ensure the safe working of it
