Need some boiler / hot water advice

Thanks both! I’m in Kettering, Northants. I’m guessing that this kind of installation will require an installer with a good level of familiarity with the Intergas system and will likely be beyond folk who regularly fit Baxis (or anything non-Intergas)? Razor - as you work for Intergas, can...

Need some boiler / hot water advice

Thanks smuggles - although now I’m a little confused. I had assumed that the “Combi Compact ECO RF 24” was a combi boiler and if it is, how would that work with a tank? Also, isn’t there more to go wrong with a combi over a system boiler? I’ll read up on hot water priority bit - but it sounds...

Need some boiler / hot water advice

Sorry - We’ve decided to go for a loft installation now and there is plenty of room up there, so space isn’t a problem any longer… Should have mentioned that before!

Fair comment - we’re an active bunch and often need showers after running and other activities…!

Need some boiler / hot water advice

thanks Razor900! We do have good pressure coming into the house. Family of 5 with multiple showers and sometimes baths running in the morning and evening. Are you saying that a 170L cylinder is too big? Any thoughts on the Jet series of cylinders?

Need some boiler / hot water advice

Apologies for the thread resurrection. The old Worcester stumbled on until very recently and its now very much dying a slow and painful death. I’ve had a quote in from a local chap I like and he recommended a Baxi Megaflo 24 paired with a Jet 170L unvented tank (Jet is made by the same...

Need some boiler / hot water advice

thanks all. The baxi calculator says I need 39.2kW (feels a bit high!) I've never heard of intergas or joule! We've had Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Ideal and Vaillant boilers in the past - mostly combi's - never had a unvented cylinder before. I've been surfing about and have found folk talking...

Need some boiler / hot water advice

Hello All, We have an old Worcester 280 combi that I think dates back to around 1995. It broke down not long after we moved in (2005) and we called a worcester engineer out who, after plying with tea and biscuits, replaced more components in it than he should have. The result has been that...

Miele w504 - rinse light flashing, drum struggling

Yes, fitted the right way around (same way the old ones came out). I did notice when i took them out for a look that the area of contact is quite small (maybe a slightly different profile on the pattern parts) and one of them seemed to have picked up more wear than the other - so i made sure...

Miele w504 - rinse light flashing, drum struggling

I'm having more of the same with the new brushes fitted. I sourced some replacement brushes from an online shop. They appeared to be very similar to the originals I took out of the machine (only longer :) ), fitted them and bolted it all back together. We stuck a very light, quick wash on...

Miele w504 - rinse light flashing, drum struggling

Awesome - Thanks again Zipper! I managed to get the machine apart and the brush assembly out. Brushes do look quite short compared to photos of the spare ones I can see on ebay. Lots of carbon dust in the assembly. Anyway, I cleaned it all up and cleaned the commutator - put it all back...

Miele w504 - rinse light flashing, drum struggling

Thanks Zipper! Is this potentially a DIY job? I'm fairly handy with a screwdriver (I'm a computer engineer) but I've got no idea how the thing comes apart to get at the motor. Cheers

Miele w504 - rinse light flashing, drum struggling

W504, rinse light flashes and the drum seems to be struggling to turn. It does have a heavy load of towels in it at the moment. This happened first last night so I drained and emptied the machine and then stuck it on a rinse. Seemed it run through that fine. Today, I put half of last nights...

just spent ages painting woodwork with water based satin...

well, it looks kind of unfinished - like its just undercoat. I've been using a purdys brush and have been rollering my doors (totally flat - no panels). The roller hasnrt worked very well either - lots of flat spots. And this is after multiple coats of the stuff. I think another problem for...

just spent ages painting woodwork with water based satin...

...and it looks terrible. The wife says I have to do it all again...arrgghhhh! I stripped and primed all my woodwork with leyland acrylic primer/undercoat and then used johnstones acrylic satin as a top coat. Lots of coats of both the undercoat and the top and it still looks crap. I do like...
