thanks for all the replies im happy that the price seems to of been a fair price and the guy telling me ive been ripped off will get it in the neck next time i see him, door and window is now in and looks great and still miles under budget so its all good
Thanks for your reply i am happy with the work done and didn't mind paying it as ive done the rest of the garage myself so still way under budget on the original quote i got for someone else to do the lot, and yes i had to do nothing it took him a day and a half as he couldn't do it in the day...
Not really a matter of questioning it the job is fine ive paid the guy and its all good, its more out of curiosity ive had a few people tell me ive paid a bit over the odds so just want a few more opinions so i know if to keep the guys number for any future work i need doing
inspector came out and told us we do not need planning permission unless we are planning on increasing the size of the structure, he has already been out and approved the wall, checked it is insulated correctly and seen the cert for the electrics and is happy enough that he will only be coming...
no planning permission was required but yes we contacted building regulations who have been coming out to make sure everything is up to regulation, we did all that ourselves the builder had nothing to do with that
no foundation he just built onto the concrete slab of the garage, in the leeds area, no cavity closers, and he had the supplier come out and match the brick
2 of the 3 builders didn't show and needed it doing asap, i didn't make him aware of that at the time though so hoped he would keep the price competitive.
