Hi Thank u for your reply- there are signs on the bedroom below this of water penetration on a low level.We have had someone round who wants to replace all the lead?The pots are sealed so water can only come in they cracks and the top of the chimney has lost most of its render.

Does anyone know about putting a lead jacket round a chimney rather than rendering or re pointing being the best long term solution against the bad weather?
