    Roof missing gutter

Yes, I wasn't keen as the old wooden fascia was well worn but roofer assured me it wasn't rotten so attached over the old

    Roof missing gutter

Ello, had new fascia and gutter installed and there's now insufficient overhang causing a waterfall down side of house. Roofer suggesting eaves guard will resolve but just want to get some opinion on this. As can see from pic there's barely a cm overhang.

    Tiling prep/patio threshold

I posted a short while ago about patio threshold damp which was tracking through some screed which had been laid to cover sunk gas pipe and level up for new tiling over old. I've now chipped up the screed which had been covering the bricks at the reveal area as the moisture seemed confined to...

    Gas pipe safe?

I had a gas pipe which needed burying to accommodate changing kitchen layout plus patio door installation, as pipe was running across close to threshold. Gas plumber sunk pipe by channelling concrete floor which was then filled in with concrete/screed for later tiling. Now having to dig out...

    Damp and ground drainage

Hello Posted recently about my patio dramas, still on going but this has now opened another can of worms or two..had better advice on here than any builder can give so hope someone can help me unlock. So I had damp at threshold of new patio doors and the consensus on here seemed to be breached...

    Patio damp threshold dramas

Help! So i cut back plaster away from floors but Floors still damp at threshold as not a single builder I've had round understands what's going on..or they just advise a masking solution. Since the threshold issue a few more damp patches have presented around the newly plastered kitchen. Mainly...

    Insulating bricked doorway

About to have external kitchen door bricked up and builder has advised rockwool roll between the breeze block and outer brick. Any advice on best value insulation? Its an old house with solid walls so no cavity insulation elsewhere but thinking this will help with damp proofing?

    Patio damp threshold dramas

Youre right and there is a DPM under the rest of the floor so knocking out that part of the wall to accommodate the door has created a breach as far as I understand. My plan is to dig out and replace dpm there if I can. Again others suggest I can dig out a couple inches clear of where the wall...

    Patio damp threshold dramas

Thank you, someone else said the same but the company are denying it needed one. Any advice on how to get them to rectify?

    Patio damp threshold dramas

I posted previously about big wet patch at patio threshold which has been coming up since rain started. A window was removed to install doors so brickwork was taken down to floor. Ive gone back to the guys who fitted the doors but they claim it did not need DPM. They are suggesting weep holes...

    Tyrolean removal/repointing

Thanks for advice..No cracks at ground level that I can see but definitely in need of pointing so I'll take care of the bits I expose then hopefully tackle full removal later. It does seem to peel of at the bottom below DPC level so hopefully it's not concrete based‍♀️

    Tyrolean removal/repointing

Thanks for the advice, old render had no damp patches as such was still intact but bit crumbly when taking off in parts so it was all hacked off and redone. Other posts mention tanking which might have helped but bit late now. Hopefully a couple of air vents will help as I think this has been...

    Tyrolean removal/repointing

Previous owners of my lovely Victorian house coated it in tyrolean which I suspect might have caused a bit of moisture build up. No major damp internally but most the plaster in the kitchen recently removed while renovating. Cant afford full removal yet so I'm removing a few courses of this...

    Patio threshold damp advice please!!

Ah I understand so isolate the patio portion and at least this won't transfer beyond that area. I can accept some moisture will remain but is there still value in sealing floor to wall around the perimeter to protect the new wall plaster and can I install air bricks? The previous survey...

    Patio threshold damp advice please!!

This makes sense, although what if there was no dpc elsewhere under the floor? Would the problem not spread anyway? The rest of the floor isn't visibly damp though so I would hope there was dpc and your solution would bridge the gap. I thought I'd also seal the floor to wall joints where...
