Flue through Valley - Need local trade to sort please!

The flue could have been off-set but it would take up more of the room and it isn't a massive room to start with. If I ever come accross a situation like this again I'll insist that the flue goes out of the wall on the first floor saving a lot of hassle.

    fireplace what to do next?

We always avoid tiles. The heat always tends to blow the adhesive and the grout gets grubby and falls out over the years. Use compressed vermiculite or sand and cement render. We always use compressed vermiculite. It would achieve the look below: I doubt if it's underfloor heating...

Re-instating a removed first floor chimney - advice req

Yeah you could use twin wall insulated flue for the first floor section and then flexi stainless flue liner in the upper and lower parts of the chimney. The twin wall manufacturers make the appropriate parts. Otherwise just build it out of masonry and put a chimney breast back in and then drop...

Flue through Valley - Need local trade to sort please!

Cotswoldbuilders - the valley hasn't been renewed, that's the issue. I wanted it renewing but the roofer didn't do it. It also has a lead slate with a storm collar. The client didn't want it taking out of the wall otherwise I would have. Normally I'd rather go through a roof than a wall...

Building a new chimney or fireplace

You can actually buy the part that you've manufactured. It's called a cooker off-set. We use them quite a bit to position the stove away from the back wall. They don't look quite as nice as a straight length from the top of the stove but it's more important that the stove is away from the...

Building a new chimney or fireplace

I hope you don't mind me posting this. It should hopefully help a lot of folk out. I just wanted to put a quick post together in the hope that builders, self builders, architects or the clients themselves may see this. We install wood burning stoves and we come across the same issue all...

    Stove Instalation

Jesus......thats probably the worst job i've ever seen. It's sooooooo dangerous. You can see timber within around half an inch of the liner where it passes through the wall. A flexi liner is for re-lining class one chimneys.......it's not to be used as a primary lining system. It should...
