    Grass, Weeds & Moss gone

Yes.. ...2 ins all over. The clay was so soft when wet that some areas were like walking over a waterbed mattress. In a couple of places if you stood still you would slowly begin to sink. Using a 6ft pinch bar to make pilot holes for fence posts and at on point on the second thrust the...

    Shed Sound-proofing

My shed has a traditional 2x2 inch frame and is lined with thin plywood. Is there a recommended material that I can place between the thin ply and the outer wood that will act as a good sound proofer. I make quite a bit of noise in the shed now and again with hammers, saws, routers etc so this...

    Fence post spikes

I took the 'postcrete' route. With a nice sharp spade, the roots weren't too much of a problem, the problem turned out to be builders rubble in heavy thick clay. It got worse as I got nearer to the house. Cheers.

    Fence post spikes

Thanks guys. I'm begining to go off the idea of using Metposts. I did use them when I built the fence at the front of my garden about five years ago. I've just had a look at them and the posts are in very good condition and rock solid. Cheers.

    Fence post spikes

Thanks for the info Deluks My next door nieghbour is removing his 25 year old seven foot tall pine hedge but will be leaving the stumps cut down to ground level. It will be replaced with a 4ft fence. As the ground will be more than a bit rootbound, I though that the easiest way to drive in...

    Burning Smell ???

My brother-in-law, who is a corgi registered plumber and works mainly at installing central heating systems, is going to look at it tomorrow. he has said on the phone that from my description of things, it will most certainly be a new shower unit that will have to be fitted. Surely the...

    Burning Smell ???

Took the cover off and the live terminal is burnt black and about two and a half inches of the live lead is burnt and blistered. The clear plastic casing covering the terminals has melted in the area of the live conection and the circuit board is burnt where the live terminal connects to it...

    Burning Smell ???

I have noticed over the last couple of days that there is a smell in the bathroom. Nothing unusual there you might think but this smell seems to be coming from my Mira shower unit and I was wondering if there could be something that is over heating as the smell makes me think of burning...
