A brake problem and a mystery

To all those that have taken an interest in this problem of mine. I would tell you that I think I have cracked it. After having the adjusters replaced, this allowed me to adjust the brakes better the way I told you earlier. Over the last two days the brakes are more positive and the...

A brake problem and a mystery

Reading though the posts again. It is NOT one side coming on before the other. It is that one side is getting HOTTER than the other. Although it would seem that one side is coming on first. If this was so then it would be pulling to that side.

A brake problem and a mystery

This is the original problem. One side coming on before the other. If you recall from my original post. When I had a service and complete brake service. The position changed from the nearside to offside now coming on first. As for a blockage. when the system was bled there was a good squirt...

A brake problem and a mystery

I had the cab booked in yesterday for another session. I had arranged for the adjusters on the front wheels to be changed as I had noticed that on a couple I could not feel the clicks. When I arrived at the garage the foreman told me that he could not get any adjusters anywhere. I said that I...

A brake problem and a mystery

Because of the hard work that the vehicle does. Every year the cylinders are changed on its yearly overhaul. There are two on each wheel cost £336 approx. for just the front. There is one on each rear wheel. If I find as I said that the piston seal leaks too often, then the cylinder is...

A brake problem and a mystery

If we can start with the boiling of the fluid. When the fluid gets too hot it goes 'black'. So I do get it changed. As for the rubber replacement. If I have to have the rubber replaced too often then I have the slave cylinder replaced. (£84 for one rear recently inc labour). There are two pipes...

Funny names topic - moderator rebuke.

I am new on this site. I believe that it is quite refreshing to find such a site where any sort of offensive words are deleted or edited for a better definition. In one of my posts I put in as I was discribing an object as 'Cr*p'. It was changed to 'rubbish'. Same meaning but less offensive to...

    Puncture repair

Looking at the picture I would say it should be legal to repair. It looks as if the area is 'road contact'. I have had very similar if not slightly more to the edge and had it repaired. I should get another opinion from some other tyre repairers.

A brake problem and a mystery

Driving in London the answer is yes as it is all stop start. So it is 'hard driving' As for bedding in, I normally re adjust the brakes after a couple of days. I agree about the asbestos. The linings these days are 'Crap'. But of course it is the overheating that is causing the linings to...

A brake problem and a mystery

Hi MikeD All pipes have been checked including the flexys. No, the brake is not sticking on as when as you say the wheel is jacked up it runs free. Also when on a slight slope when I release the brake the vehicle rolls. Part of the The mystery is why has it gone from the nearside to offside...

A brake problem and a mystery

Hi. I own a ‘F’ reg Metrocab that has drum brakes. What is happening is that one of the front wheels is getting hotter than the other side. I mean hot, as you cannot touch the wheel for too long. Now before you start giving me reasons why this is happening. Let me give you a bit of history...
