The engineer who I complained to sent me the cheque therefore I feel it is only fair to send the pcb back.
In my letter I stated that if he reimbursed I would send the PCB to him.
So fair is fair!
Just a quick update. I sent a letter requesting a reimbursement for the cost of the PCB and received a cheque this morning. I will now send the PCB to the engineer as it's of little use to me really, and won't be taking it further with Corgi and Ariston.

Either I haven't explained very well or you're not reading the thread. The only reason I ordered the part was because the plonker couldn't tell me when he could obtain one, what else could I do, wait indefinitely?
No, this was my local Ariston engineer. I phoned Ariston and they give me his number.
I did not get the chance to pay for the diagnosis as he refused to provide a fix date and told me he wouldn't fit it even if I could get the pcb.
I will write to him and demand he pays for the pcb, he can then have the damn thing as it's no use to me.
I can't help feeling he's either totally incompetent or even worse knew the real fault but wanted me to pay more ( a pcb replacement would presumably be a lot more expensive than changing a...
