    lights are dim

Try and isolate which 2 conductors are linked to your light; -you will have 2 cables going to your bulb holder, you need to verify which 2 cables they link back to at the switch. The one going to the centre is your live, and comes from the dimmer out. (the sqiggle) The other is your neutral...

McAlpine flexible wc connector to Saniflow macerator?

Ta mate; but I've tried and although it will work it moves the pan out too far from the wall; just looks too odd. Instead of lowering the whole floor, I'm going to run the shower to another flippin macerator, that way I can get away with just making a gully and hole for the Sanishower. Ta...

Low pressure Hot / Cold then boiler turns off

Hi all My combi boiler has been turned on after being off for a few months, and it all seemed OK apart from the pressure being low on both hot and cold. Then it turned itself off, with a red LED next to the gas indicator coming on. Is there anything I can check before i call someone out? Cheers

    Surface mount mixer shower?

I can't bury pipes in my wall (tanked basement) and need a mixer shower which can be surface mounted, ie have the pipes to it and itself mounted to the shower wall. I popped into Plumbase just now to ask whether they knew of one, but they didn't. Does anyone know where i can get one of these...

McAlpine flexible wc connector to Saniflow macerator?

Hi all. My scenario goes as follows: We're fitting a bathroom in a basement, tanked with concrete floor and ceiling. Limited height means I have had to sink a macerator into the concreted floor & then cut a gully for the shower waste to get my shower drain angle as I can't raise the tray...

Helping flatten old stone walls for platerer

Crikey, I didn't know that! What's the modern take on the thermal capacity of the walls? Maybe Iought to think of getting them up to spec anyway; the farms on the edge of a moor and can get bl**dy cold. We were going to use the Izonil plaster / screed to seal the ground floor and it's...

Helping flatten old stone walls for platerer

Hi all We are in the process of renevating an old farm, which has considerable damp. We are going to use Izonil screed and waterproof plater on the walls, and will try and do as much as possible ourselves. I have removed all the old plaster from the walls, and am beginning to work on...

    22mm solvent weld pipe

Yep, looks like that may be the only way; I'm just a bit worried about the fit. The pipe will be very hard to get to (laminate floor above after) and I don't know what brand of pipe is already in. Do you think a speedfit job will be OK?

    22mm solvent weld pipe

Hi all I've looking for a way to connect a 22mm macerator output in a basement to a 22mm pipe leading away under ther floor of the ground floor. My problem is that the pipe the macerator needs to link to is on the otherside of a 0.5m reinforced concrete wall. I can go over it and under the...

Adding soil pipe to existing outside drain

Hi all I’m converting my basement into a studio flat, and was originally going to macerate the waste and pump it away. I’ve since found out that there is a soil drain cover and gully outside the studio flat door; so I’m now going to kango a trench in the floor to go to this point for all my...

    studio flat hot water options

Hi all, I am converting my basement into a studio flat for my Dad and would like some advice over my options for hot water. At the moment the house boiler is down there; and we were thinking of moving it upstairs and running all the hot water on electric. He will have a shower, washing...
