Hi
I've just installed a floating engineered floor but there are gaps where I used too much glue in the the tongue and groove. Part of the floor is in a kitchen and I'm worried about water getting into the joints. Does anyone have a solution for filling the gaps?
thanks
Hi
I've almost completed laying down a tongue and groove floating floor and have realised that I have probably overdone it on the glue front; Instead of fitting snugly as I now realise they should, there is a gap of less than a milimetre. Tearing up all the boards is not an option so I was...
It's going on the lower ground floor level of a maisonette. I can't afford to lay underfloor heating or lose any ceiling height so it's really just to help lay the boards and take a slight edge of the cold. I'm using Timbermate Excel
Hi and thanks for the replies. The problem I have is that my builder overcompensated when adding some levelling compound in a particular area. What I'd like to know is suggestions for removing some of this so that I can reapply properly. I was thinking of using an angle grinder to score lines...
Hi
I'm about to install some 6mm insulation and floorboards over a concrete floor. There are a very few high points in the concrete (20cms wide max) that need leveling down by a maximum of 1cm. What are the ideal tools and methods for doing this?
Thanks in advance
I came across while researching thin insulation. Turns out it's often used with underfloor heating, so not really what I'm looking for. Timbermate Silentfloor Gold seems to be the best option I have.
Although I don't have any insulation under my concrete Timbermate excel seems to be the product I'll be needing. I'm surprised that such a thin product has great thermal properties. Thanks for your great advice!
What sort of thickness do you recommend, and do you suggest laying the floorboards straight onto the combi-underlayment?
Also re the note of caution. When you say fully bond does this mean glue?
Thanks again!

I have to floorboard the entire ground floor and there is a passageway where I almost have to lower my head to get through. I think even another13mm might make a lot of difference, for me at least :(
Perhaps I could go down to 12mm on the chipboard. Would that by sturdy...
WoodYouLike,
I was thinking about floating wooden floorboards so as to avoid fixing it to chipboard.
I'm having the floor leveled with floor leveling compound.
Thanks
I'm looking into laying floorboards in my lower ground floor flat where room height is a bit of an issue. At the moment it's a concrete floor. I was thinking of adding 12mm of celotex followed by 18mm tongue and groove chipboard and then 18mm wooden floorboards on top of that. My question is...
