thanks for replies. Will prob use 8x2 at 600 centers. rafters will be 400 centers so can tie these in with joists at 1200,2400 etc. Was thinking of using joist hangers for joists to give me more room in "loft" but read somewhere its better to fix on top of wall plate. Any thoughts on this?

finally building my mancave. Walls are up doing pitched roof shortly. Was going to put joists across width 4.2 mts to tie walls in and for storage. Wont be able to put much up there so wont be taking much weight so was wondering what size joists i should use and what spacing between?

floor is going to be tiles decided to have shower tray for various reasons cost mainly,just posted a simple question, didn't want to get into different options only small project small budget allready looked at all options decided to go with shower tray.

Thanks for reply I want top of tray level with finished floor im starting from scratch with floor, took all joists out so drainage etc isnt problem, can put joists where I want so i'm working from finished floor level down,havn't bought tray yet so dont have installation guide

hi im planning on installing a 40mm slimline acrylic shower tray 1000x900.I want shower tray to be level with finished bathroom floor.my question is what thickness should the morter bed be under the tray and how much will this compress down? Was thinking 30mm bed compressed down to about 20mm.

only bought new wall units using existing base units,didnt think of measuring base units before I bought new wall units.
