So the nice man from transco has just left having told me that the connection to the hob has a very small leak. :( He has isolated it. Will be on the phone to the fitter tomorrow to get him back to fix it gratis! Thanks again for the advice to call the emergency number.

Just come off the phone from Transco and the gas is now turned off. Thanks for the speedy reply guys. The joiner is a friend of mine so I know he did not do the gas work. I guess we'll know pretty quick if there is a problem. I'll let you know the outcome

Thanks for the reply. I'll be seeing my joiner later today so I think I will just confirm with him that his mate is a Corgi. I wasn not there when the work was done but it certainly seems to all be in order.

Yes there is a fixed copper pipe. I just thought that given that you need to used an approved Corgi fitter they would need to supply a certificate to guarantee the works or something?

Does anyone know if you can get a switch that I can easily add into a circuit for under cupboard lights in the kitchen? They are powered off the mains via a transformer and I've added a spur but am unsure about how to switch them on/off. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the repsonse. I really appreciate the advice So what would be the best way to feed both the hood and the lights off the exiting double socket? Do I replace the existing double socket with a jucntion box for the hood and under cupboard lights? But if so then how do I isolate them...

I checked the cabling last night and found that the double socket I describe does not come off the cooker feed. It must be spurred off the ring main. So my question about the spur extension still stands. Can I plug in a cable that runs to a socket for the hood?
