The corgi guy who came to flush the system is also a boiler engineer and he was baffled. The pump outside of the boiler is fairly new, clean and according to the engineer working fine. I may need to find someone who knows more about these things. Thanks for your input.
Do you think it's...
My boiler won't run when the controller is set on the lower settings and at the higher settings (5, max) gets extremely hot but does not supply similarly hot water for the CH. I had the system flushed and that has made a small improvement but the rads still don't get very hot. My Corgi thought...
Thanks for the suggestion but the valve is less than three years old and moves easily when you push the lever. Looking on the web a lot of people have had this problem with this piece of c*!p valve so I cut my losses and put in a boss, now all is well and I have a spare programmer.
I couldn't measure 240V at all the places you mention so replaced the programmer, CH still doesn't work. I now get 240v for the HW, CH & HW settings but not orange for CH alone. In this state the actuator makes a noise as if it's trying to move but nothing happens!
Thanks for that. Before I saw this reply I removed the actuator cover and that allowed the lever to move further over which means that the system will only produce HW now, no CH. I suspect that the actuator may have died already but will see if I can measure 240v at the places you recommend.
I turned on the central heating on the programmer recently and it didn't seem to work initially but next time the HW programme came on the water didn't get heated but the CH came on! Is it that the 3 port valve is sticking? If so what can be done to fix it? It's a Siemens valve that's less than...
I'm happy to accept that it is an overheating problem.
If the button under the boiler that you reset (without having to remove the cover) is the overheat stat then that would appear to be the case. I don't know if the CORGI measured the burner when he installed the fan.
The gas smell problem has been fixed by the new fan & pcb. I need to try to analyse precisely when the reset button is tripped, it could be an overheating issue. Finding someone who can do more than replace parts is v.difficult, do you know anyone competent in the Lewes/Brighton area?
My Prima F50 has been giving me a lot of grief of late. In Jan it stopped igniting about half an hour after start up but continued to run, you could smell gas fumes outside. An engineer said it was either the fan or the PCB, he replaced the fan but this did not solve the problem so I replaced...
