Thanks for all the responses. The engineers coming over have agreed to complete the Benchmark Commissioning, Installation and Service Log Book following their inspection.
For the benefit of anyone reading in future, the NHBC (Building Control) did say that a commissioning certificate...
Unfortunately we can't just ignore the situation. During the past five years the installations have had no servicing or maintenance because engineers don't want to touch an uncommissioned system. Also if owners wanted to sell their flat they have to disclose this information to the buyer, and...
The Megaflo water heaters in our building (14 flats) were installed about 5 years ago but the installer never signed off the logbook to formally commission the systems, and due to a dispute between him and the builder he probably never will. This leaves us in a difficult situation and we need...
MANY thanks for your very helpful responses.
I've asked the builder to double-check the advice he has received from a heating engineer regarding standard plastic soil stacks, and to provide details of the legislation involved if he continues to say that it would be illegal to fit the hepvo...
OP Here. Thanks all... so I will fight like hell to keep the megaflo but I'm getting desperate here purely because I can't find any options that would enable me to keep it. Its all so stupid... all this just cos someone fitted the wrong pipe :x
The Hep valve was a great plan but it has been...
Thanks Tony. Any idea how I can get more details of this option so I can challenge the builder? Oh, is that the waterless HepVo valve mentioned in the NHBC doc above? (Thanks for the link to that, by the way, Norcon!)
Thanks all.
Yep. 14 flats over 4 floors of a building with concrete flooring that at its thickest is about a meter thick.... they say the cost and difficulty of accurately drilling down through each flat into the basement to install new pipes is prohibitive, and I can see their point even...
When our apartment block was built the builder's contractor messed up on the Megaflo installations in all 14 flats, putting the wrong bore pipe leading down from the tundish to the ground. The installations don't meet building regs.
To resolve this, the building company has ruled out replacing...
Cheers :D Seems like there isn't a big advantage to having a workmate then. I will have a small storage area in the carpark, thankfully, so I'll go for the saw horses & ply idea for now.
Deluks - are the clamps to attach the ply to the sawhorse, for stability?
Thanks again.
Hi. I've been doing a beginners woodwork course for about 6 weeks now and want to start working at home. I don't have room in my flat so I'll be working in a communal underground carpark. I was thinking of getting a folding bench/workmate type thing that I can pack away when I am finished...
