Its coming from the tank in the roof. So I can turn off the water from the main stop cock, where the water comes in from the road. Do you think I will be able to find the same length of valve to replace this one , I don't want to get involved with pipe work etc.

Hello Thanks for the info. I need to change it as some of the lights will not come on. All the MCB switches were in the ON position. The one I am changing didn't turn any lights off or on so I am hoping that this is the probelm.
