    Fitting taps in new sink

Hi, i've just been looking at those, they seem to have screw threads on one end and a compression fitting on the other, do they do them with compression fittings on both ends for 15mm copper pipe? Also, I have seen taps that bend and twist in normal use on a cheap sink, would solid copper...

    Fitting taps in new sink

Hi, I am fitting a new sink and mixer tap in the kitchen and have a couple of questions. Is it best to connect the two mixer tails to the original pipework by flexible hose/corrugated copper pipe or is it best to solder solid pipework in place? I would imagine it would make the mixer...

    Missing tag/seal on main fuse

I had a guy in to read the meter a couple of weeks ago. I had another guy in to "read the meter" yesterday, he did no such thing though. He swished a wand at my tails, fuse and meter, pronounced he was happy then sauntered out. :)

    Cooker hood and ignition

I've had a look, no room behind the kitchen units for normal 2 gang sockets and plugs. The problem is that the hob ignition needs 3 amp fusing. The only other thing I can think of is to replace the cooker outlet with 2 fcb's, one 13 amp FCU for the oven and hood. Another 3 amp FCU for...

    Cooker hood and ignition

Good idea, Does the buried cable from the new double socket up to the new cooker hood socket need to be 6mm? If so, will I have trouble connecting this cable at the back of the new double socket? Thanks

    Cooker hood and ignition

Hi, I'm having my kitchen done and replacing the old combined cooker with an electric oven and gas hob. As part of the new setup, I have a cooker hood and gas ignition to wire up and have been looking for a good place to put in a FCU. The ring main is miles away and either way it would...

    New CU

Hi, the earthing is by TN-C-S . I originaly bought the unit as I intended to fit it myself but don't think i'll have the time now. I might just see if screwfix will take the unit back and i'll stick with the old style fusebox (no trips at all) for now and add my new radial to its spare...

    New CU

Thanks for the replies. Well I have the Volex now, so that is what will have to be used. It seems ok to me. A little flimsy but everything is where it should be and there is enough space for cabling. If an Electrician is probably going to charge me more to use ths unit, maybe I should put my...

    New CU

Hi, I want to replace my old memera3 fusebox with the new Volex unit I just bought from Screwfix. Roughly how much, all in, would I expect to be charged. The house was built in 1984 and has had no electrical work done to it from new. There are 5 circuits in use and plenty of free play on...
