    Flexible connection to electric shower.

Owain, That is an option for now... Would still prefer a flexible arrangement for post refurb though. Guess I can pick the brains of the plumber who comes next week too, see if he's done anything similar in the past for anyone.

    Flexible connection to electric shower.

Oldbuffer, You're interpretation is spot on: cold feed for shower is T-d off the bath tap supply (mains fed, no tank), through an isolation valve, and then up inside a timber stud wall to the penetration at the shower location. The pipework is 15mm copper and is presented at the shower pointing...

    Flexible connection to electric shower.

Evening all. I have a situation where upon offering up a replacement electric shower in order to mark my fixing holes, the distance between the elbow joint and the tiles means that the shower unit does not sit flush with the wall surface. I bought a second, different, shower and have the same...

    New flat, boiler issues.

Many thanks for the reply Ken, I'm not too worried bout England as I too am in Scotland :) I've just had a fresh look through the home report: it states no testing was carried out and the CH seems to be in working order. The seller notes in their questionnaire that there is a maintenance...

    New flat, boiler issues.

Evening all. Just got the keys to a new flat yesterday which has a 14yr old combi boiler. When we viewed the property we knew the timer/dial was off the boiler but didn't make a fuss as we plan to install a Nest control system and the manual on/off was still accessible. Tonight I put it on...

Galv. steel loop in boxes - fixing & earth connection

The loop in boxes I've looked at have been flat based - essentially conduit boxes without any apertures in the side walls but one in the base to use as rear cable entry. I could put the dome lid direct to the wall but may need to step it out a bit as from that I'm taking a bend to a threaded...

Galv. steel loop in boxes - fixing & earth connection

Many thanks. For fixing the loop in box I'm wondering if it might just be a case of drilling the fixing holes myself...

Galv. steel loop in boxes - fixing & earth connection

Afternoon all. Looking at surface mounting a loop in box which will in turn have a dome/spout cover installed to route lighting circuit out of a wall (existing wall light location). One thing that is unclear to me, apologies if this is a super rookie question, but how would you fix this to the...

Custom light fittings - self built from components

Is PAT testing enough? I thought I may have had to go down the CE marking route with all that entails... I'd prefer to use BC lampholders (and probably will for the ceiling light) but most of the LED filament lamps I'm finding have ES connections. I may just not be looking hard enough though.

Custom light fittings - self built from components

Many thanks for the replies folks. Bit more info as requested: > Replacing carp wall lights with surface mounted galv. steel conduit box with spouted cover joined to a bend piece with a threaded E27 lampholder, internally wired in 2-core 0.75mm pond flex to a wago block in the conduit box...

Custom light fittings - self built from components

Afternoon, Thinking of putting together my own light fittings, constructed from component parts, and was wondering if there are any particular regulations/legislation the finished article needs to comply with? I would not be looking to sell the fitting, however I wouldn't want to find myself up...
