Thanks for the info. Gone ahead and done it all now (well most of it).
Firstly, I put down a layer of Febflor Self leveling compound down and let that dry for a week (I don't think it even needs that long but I wanted to be sure).
A floor compound I've been informed is very different from...
I think you can do either - i did the floor (laminate) after the units were down - we were originally going to tile and still would have done it after as well - it's not a bodge.
The units we had from B&Q had adjustable legs and the fitter allowed 10mm extra for the floor height. When I came...
Hi emm77,
Having recently gone through this - as kevplumb says - it is down to how uneven it is that matters.
I dont think it necessarily matters if the floor slopes - our kitchen floor sloped with 30mm difference over 2.5 metres from one side to the other and there's not a lot you can do...
Yes - but isn't that how the edges of carpets end up dirty looking? from gaps around the skirting and air blowing dust in?
I think I will probably just use caulk or frame sealant when I come to do the living room (where similar gaps exist) - but am interested to know what other people think.
so I'm stuffed? This febflor stuff is basically concrete isn't it? I thought concrete chemically bonded itself with the layer below?
I'm now worried
Hi Jim456,
Thanks for the advice - I went and did it yesterday - I got a 25kg bag of Febflor Self-leveling compound on Sunday morning (in fact 2 bags but one was enough). This doesn't seem to require mixing with latex - is it already in it?
I think i might have made it too runny this time to...
Hi Jim456,
Right, i was wondering whether i'd get away with not putting down the latex at all as the floor seems reasonably level but I can probably manage that.
Is there a knack to putting down the leveling compound? - i've only done it once before (using febfloor? or something) and maybe...
I filled some gaps in my boards recently - the gaps ranged between ~1-8mm, for larger gaps i used lengths of newspaper rolled and shoved them down - they were long enough so that they would rest on the joists and besides they were rammed in pretty tight. Then I filled the gaps with B&Q brown...
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience laying parquet flooring on a concrete floor which used to have vinyl tiles on it?
We bought the parquet tiles - nicoline, unsealed but pre-sanded which need to be glued down and the instructions say the floor has to be very flat and smooth (no surprises...
