  • Hi Rickp,

Have been following your post with deep interest. Is it possible to get some additional information? I am of the opinion that your fine tuneing is a temperory reprieve. I also feel that the boiler is more than 'man' enough to carry out the task of heating water and rooms without constant tweeking.

You said you had 16 rads. Can you list what rooms with one or two rads, and (you may not want to do this) what size rads and if single, double or even with convector fins on one panel or both. I know this is asking a lot, but in return might be able to guide you to finish up with a fine tuned system that reduces your fuel bills.

Can you say what previous boiler was and what it was rated at. Example Potterton Kingfisher 80RS. Kingfisher is the model in my example and 80 the power rating like on your Vailant.

Werre you able get central heating without hot water switching on at the same time? Is your property exposed to the elements?

I hope you can assist as it is as much for my searching mind as for guidance of an end user like yourself.

I also feel four independent installers saying the same thing means their thought pattern is the same- so all four could not be wrong in specifying Vaillant 428

    Kind Regards

    DP
