im not sure if i need to cut holes in a new plasterboard ceiling for downlights before skimming or after.. any ideas?

lol.. i done it.. i took them all down! i broke them from the loft though.. so it wasnt as bad as i expected. still coughing up black dust though.. scary job for someone who isnt into diy and doesnt like to get his hands dirty.. im much happier behind a pc.. well at least the job is...

i think i might have a go at breaking them from up in the loft.. or just take down the ones that will cause problems.. like the overlapping ones..

how do you mean makes cleaning easier?? i think if i take them out it may be easier to board.. but i dont think i can face the dust :(

thanks.. i have managed to get all the old ceiling off.. what a nitemare of a job.. i hope i never have to do that again! completely covered in black dust..

Im in the process of removing the plaster off a bedroom ceiling and plastrboard up, skim and paint.. do i need to take out the strips of wood as well? i take it they are for the loft insulation?? they seem to be overlapping a bit and am not sure how the plasterboard will fit on top...
