Don't shoot me if this is a stupid question to ask but I want to install a new external light on the outside of my garage but the only nearby accessible power is a standard mains socket. My question is can I use a standard 3 pin plug on the end of the new light cable and plug it into the mains...
I have 4 LV cabinet lights installed and the length of wires from each of them on the top of the cabinet means there is a big mass of wires. I know the obvious thing to do would have been to cut them down before wiring them in but now I have is there any harm in just using a cable tie to tie...
I have just got round to fitting a monobloc tap I bought and after fixing one leak out the top of the tap it is now leaking out of the join where the swivel part swivels in the main body of the tap.
Can somebody suggest how I get further into the tap to see what is wrong or how I can fix this...
I have a transformer that I bought seperately to connect my cabinet lights. The transformer has a live and neutral coming out of one end and two cables coming out of the other which are the same colour, covered in like a fabric material.
My question is what wires connect to what?
I am now completing the wiring and find that it is a struggle to fit 3 cables in the cooker control unit. I don't mean 3 cables in the back box but just taking the live for example, I have to put two into the 'feed' and one into 'load'. Is it normal for it to be such a tight squeeze? I have...
Thanks for your help, as always!
Until now I've always struggled because a lot of transformers say 3 terminals and I need 4 lights, although within rating limit, so I'm a happy guy now.
So if it's a transformer with 3 terminals and I have 4 lights, can I wire 2 lights into one of the terminals, providing I'm still within the overall rating?
Providing you keep within the maximum power rating can you connect as many fittings as you like to a transformer or does it depend on how many terminals it has. I.e. can I connect a terminal block to enable me to connect more lights. It's just that a lot of transformers say "3 pairs output...
1. Is it possible to use standard halogen downlights in a kitchen cabinet or do they have to be proper cabinet lights?
2. I have a socket spur on top of a wall cabinet which I was going to use to power cabinet lights. How can I wire from that so I can swicth the lights on at a more convenient...
The total combined rating is 10.8kw and I intend to run using 6mm cable and a 40a mcb. Is this okay because the 'Which Book of Wiring & Lighting' seems to suggest it is unless it is out of date but I only bought this a month ago.
To sum up:
I am running cable to the first cooker control unit (no. 1) then onto a double oven. I'm then running a cable from the first cooker control unit (still no.1) to a second cooker control unit (no.2) because the distance is about 7 metres. From no.2 to the ceramic hob. But to start this...
