Key broken and stuck in PVC front door

I've tried several times since posting this to no avail. I've had to resort to claiming on my household insurance with a £25 excess since the locksmiths I called quotes for all wanted to charge about £80 to come and do it.

    Bricking in an old door?

Hi. My house has two front doors because it used to be a shop as well. I want to block up the old door that's no longer used. It's a wooden door, very basic just on hinges. There's also a glass window above the door that I also want removing and bricking up. I was wondering how much I...

Adding an extra socket to a remote

Ahhh.just realised. That was meant to say add socket to room rather than remote. I must have been thinking about remotes at the time for some reason.

Adding an extra socket to a remote

Thanks for that. Electrical circuitry in the room is about ten years old maybe less and where I want the new sockets is going to be about 1-2 metres away from the actual main fusebox. I didn't mention 'remote'?

Adding an extra socket to a remote

Hi. I'm trying to re-arrange my front room to make it a more usable space and it ideally will involve adding a socket to the wall. I was wondering what a reasonable price should be for an electrician to fit a double socket sunken in to the wall?

Key broken and stuck in PVC front door

I've tried poking various sharp thin instruments to try and push out the broken key. But I don't want to push too hard with it incase I break the lock. I've tried a thin bit of rigid wire but it only pushes in so far and I don't really know what I'm pushing up against, whether its the...

Key broken and stuck in PVC front door

I distinctly remember that I put the key in to turn to open the door, but it wouldn't turn and the key snapped. So it's still in its original position. Either way, the bit that's stuck in the keyhole won't turn if that is the case.

Key broken and stuck in PVC front door

I'll have to track one down at my local DIY store tomorrow if they have them.

Key broken and stuck in PVC front door

Thanks for the tip. I just tried it but unfortunately their isn't enough key to put the glue on to and set. There's just a couple of millimetres where I can grip it. The glue just comes straight off even when I let it set.

Key broken and stuck in PVC front door

Hi. To save myself from calling a locksmith I can't afford right now, I thought I would try to remove the broken key that has snapped on the outside of my front door. The door is locked and there is still a bit of the key sticking out that pliers can grab on to. However, despite spending...
