    Underfloor heating and radiators

[/url] That is an awesome and simple explanation! Thanks for sharing that. Yep, and found my mixing valve. And the flow rate indicators. Interestingly, it seems that the indicators are showing very low flow rates, almost close to 0. I think I may have a bit of a ballache, these flow...

    Underfloor heating and radiators

Hm, interesting. Ok will look into that. The installer turned out to be a rather complete muppet. Still sorting out niggles 6mo on. So I'd rather not have him back! Need to go find someone else, but trying to get educated about the system as much as possible beforehand.

    Underfloor heating and radiators

Like I say, the UFH needs to come on a lot sooner to give the concrete slab/screed, or wooden floor and floor covering time to heat up. Unlike a rad that's directly in contact with the air in the room, there's inevitably a 'barrier' between the coil of pipe in the floor and the air in the room...

    Underfloor heating and radiators

Ah thanks. Is that the usual practice? So if I have two zones, my rads (upstairs+downstairs) would be on one zone and the downstairs underfloor on the second zone? What's the reason for not doing one zone with both underfloor + rads? Thanks

    Underfloor heating and radiators

House is divided into two zones, upstairs and downstairs. The downstairs has underfloor heating and 3 radiators. It used to be all run off of a very old cylinder boiler. In the summer I had that replaced by a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 837. All through the winter partly because of our laziness the...

    Conservation area madness

I agree and I would rather not do the side dormer. But I have no option, the loft is rather large, however the the staircase is on the side external wall. So the only way to get headroom and pass any building regs is to create a dormer on the side slope of the roof. I've looked at repositioning...

    Conservation area madness

There is no local paper... but yeah, social media might be an answer. Will look into that, thanks.

    Conservation area madness

Thanks for that. Latest update, yet more madness... Apologies I didn't give the full info, just out of the very slim remote chance anyone involved happened to read it and in some way prejudice what was going on this week. To add a bit more detail... in fact, I had done the following: -...

    Conservation area madness

I live in a conservation area, I am looking to do a loft conversion, but I'm going up against some complete madness with the council. The loft is a good size space, so would be a massive relief to a growing family without having to root up the kids and move area (which I can't even afford to...

Bricking up a doorway - is this right?

Thanks guys. That's reassuring. Plus the builder mentioned later that he put in four steel rods between the blocks and the side wall. So hopefully all good. Thanks!

Bricking up a doorway - is this right?

Asked a builder to brick up a doorway... this is the result. I'm not experienced at all with bricklaying so could be looking at this wrong, but it just looks like a section of blocks in the doorway and not integrated with the rest of the wall. I would have thought they would do a zipper...
