Hi Guys,
I currently have a 6x4 concrete base where my shed was and I would like to use this for my patio base. The patio is going to be 12x12 so I need to build up the area around it.
Surrounding the current base is grass/soil so I was going to use MOT Type 1 to build up the 3/4" I need...
Was going to buy a bulk bag of MOT Type 1 for my sub base when doing my patio but I wondered if I could use some hardcore/rubble/bricks etc?
My friend has just knocked down an internal wall and I have a mountain of rubble from when I did mine... can I take a sledge hammer to it and crush it...
thanks again for your help - im really glad it all makes sense as i normally read this stuff and it seems like its in chinese - thank you for 'dumbing it down' for me!
i will post photos once i have completed the task!
That is what i was wondering, how to extend the current base out so i can lay ontop of that? The base is surrounded by soil/turf.. So do i dig it out and put the hardcore or MOT in and build it upto the current level of the concrete base?
Do i need to get one of the plates machines to...
I have two parts to my garden, one which I have decided (with the help of you guys) to deck and the other part will be patio'ed.
There is currently a shed there with a concrete base. Around the shed there is soil that has recently been turned - now the concrete base is probable 2.5m x 1.5m...
So if I was to prep it (weedkiller) and rotovate it in the next 2/3 weeks would it then be ready to grass seed do you think?
Also if there is no rain does it need regular watering?
The area to be decked is South facing and is exposed to from sunrise to sunset (when we have sun that is...). So hopefully the damp shouldn't be an issue.
Again thank you for your replies!
Cheesy1 your decking does look lovely and I hope mine will look just as good once I have finished...
Thank you guys - I will probably do Roundup on the weeds and the remove them manually as best as I can - then rotovate the garden and finally seed it.
Is there any particular grass seed you would recommend? It gets a fair amount of sunshine (South/East aspect) and doesn't get a great deal or...
Brilliant thank you! They will run along the dip so as you say I can fill under the joist to give it further support.
To be fair I will be 'over-supporting' as I never trust my DIY handy work so I have no fears of it dipping or moving as I take too many pre-cautions!
Thanks for making it...
Thank you for the advice. I think I am going to go with the decking...
On the uneven concrete - would I be best to smash/rip it up and lay concrete blocks and build the base on there?
Or would it be best to build over the existing concrete? It dips slightly in the middle.. could I use...
I am hoping to sort my garden out this Spring and I have already posted a question about my lawn - now onto the Hard Stuff!
There is currently an area which is concreted which I would like to make 'good'. Please could I have advice on the following...
The concrete is rather uneven, not...
Hi,
I am looking at re-doing our lawn as soon as possible - what we have now is mostly dead and full of weeds. I wondered what would be my best option...
Rotavator the lawn and then grass seed?
or...
Rotavator the lawn and lay turf?
Basically I have never had a garden in my...
apologies for my ignorance but I am a complete novice at DIY..
Please explain a littler further 'Scribe to the floor'....?
Is this a case of sanding it down at the higher end?
I laid laminate flooring in my kitchen and when I have gone to lay skirting over the top it appears the floor is on a slight slope. I have fixed the Skirting from the arcitrave on the door and going along to the opposite wall... When I have gone to lay the second piece of skirting if I want it...
